MORE RR RELEASES ON STREAMING!One of my goals this year has been to get (almost) everything from related records on streaming platforms (besides bandcamp) the reason I have been so stubborn about this in the past is because streaming platforms (like Spotify, Apple, Youtube, TIDAL...etc) do not pay out artists very well (or at all in some cases) and the whole "streaming" process has kind of killed the album format and changed the way people discover new music in a way that I don't particularly like. BUT what has changed my attitude about this recently is realizing streaming IS the main way people find new music and even if a small percentage of those people go out and support the new artists in other ways (like seeing them live, following them on social media, buying their physical releases...etc) that is worth it to me. So here is some of the new stuff that has made its way onto streaming platforms from Related Records recently. NEW ITEMS ADDED TO THE GARAGE SALE!I have been putting off listing these recent items for so long! Because it is so time consuming and kinda dumb! BUT here are a bunch of DVD's and VHS tapes I have added recently to the garage sale section of the website. I also put everything left over from previous garage sale "drops" at 50% off so most stuff is between $0.50 - $3. Just go check it out for yourself.
IMPORTANT PLEASE READ!Hey! before you get into the rest of the newsletter, please note, if you place an online order through the Related Records website, Discogs store, Depop or Bandcamp AFTER Tuesday December 12th, it will not be shipped out until December 27th and you probably will not get it until 2024. I won't have access to my office or inventory from December 13th-26th. This is important if you care about getting stuff in time for holiday bullshit. Get your orders in now! NEW TO THE ONLINE STORE!
SPOTIFY PLAYLISTSI decided to make a whole page on the Related Records website about all the different playlists I have made and continue to make. You can check it out here. I also wanna make it clear that Related Records does not endorse or support Spotify. They are an awful company that makes billions of dollars on the backs of hardworking musicians, producers, fans, labels... basically anyone who contributes or works within the music industry - Spotify is making money off you whether you want them to or not. BUT I also recognize that they are affordable and easy to use, which is why so many music fans use it and why I have created these playlists for you to enjoy. If you are a Spotify user, no shame or hard feelings meant for you. But fuck Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon forever. NEW TABOR MOUNTAIN MUSIC VIDEO!New TABOR MOUNTAIN music video is so sick! Please watch and enjoy! And if you haven't already, pick up a copy of the new album Twilight Apologies. It rules and I hope it makes it's way onto everyone end of year lists. It’s June which means it’s #pridemonth which seemed like a perfect time to release an all femme+queer tribute compilation to 1960s girl groups.
This compilation features 18 tracks covering Lesley Gore, The Supremes, Evelyne Courtois, Wendy Rene, Nancy Sinatra, The Chiffons, Little Peggy March, The Marvelettes, June Valli, The Crystals, Norma Tracey, The Cookies, The Bitter Sweets, Little Eva and The Ronettes As performed by Related Records artists - QUINTRON & MISS PUSSYCAT // BARRY // DINOSAUR LOVE // MIA LOUCKS // THE BEST FRIENDS // TREASURE MAMMAL As well as EXECUTIVE DYSFUNCTION // DOLLY CREAMER // LADYBABYMISS (featuring BIMBO YAGA) // MIGUEL LARESS // SASSYHIYA // KYLO GUN // SWAN REAL (*featuring MYA BYRNE) // CALVIN HALLIDAY (from U.S. HIGHBALL) // DORIAN WOOD // COLEY MIXAN // LANA DEL RABIES You can pay whatever you want for it on the Related Related Bandcamp. Please follow and check out each of these artists individually because they are all so amazing! Artwork by Calvin Halliday In May of 2023 Related Records is going to be celebrating 10 years of being a record label! WOW! I know! incredible right?! I almost didn't make it! But this year I got a bunch of stuff planned and hopefully, all of these things happen! Anyway, here's this years tentative release schedule..
WHAT ELSE???Well at some point in the year there will be a Volume 2 of the Recherche compilation that will include unreleased tracks from Related Records (and Related Records adjacent) artists on CD, And a limited edition Lathe 7" for Fatty Cakes & The Puff Pastries featuring 2 brand new songs by them. And sometime in the fall I will be releasing a song-for-song tribute compilation to The House Martins "London 0 Hull 4" Record. If you would like to contribute something to that, let me know what song you would like to do, so I can make sure its not already claimed. Plus I plan on releasing a cassette tape featuring all the A-Sides and B-Sides from all of the Belle Stars singles. A new Zine from The Terri's!, at least 1 more season of The Best Friends Podcast, and 1-2 more issues of Testimony! AAANNNDDDD!!!! I should probably get back to releasing more cool/forgotten media on Heirloom Records THAT'S NOT ALL!!I listed a bunch of Test Presses for you obsessive vinyl collecting weirdos. UNLIMITED SEMIOSIS VOLUME 2It has been almost a whole year since the last FREE digital Related Records compilation, This one is pretty fun, especially for you artists who are needing an excuse to make music again while in isolation. I made an FAQ page all about this one, including info on how to contribute. SALE TIME!I should *fingers crossed* be getting the new Treasure Mammal "Grammy Nominated" LP in the mail in the next week or two. And that also means I need to make room for all these LP's in my tiny office. So I am offering 3 different sales for Vinyl, Tapes and CD's. You buy 1 item for $10.99 (or $20.99 if its a vinyl) and I throw in 3 extra records from the Related Records Catalog+Distro for free. These will be curated based on whatever you pick. PLUS will I throw in extras like stickers and download cards...etc
Finally finished the first (of hopefully many) digital compilations that pay tribute to a specific region and decade. The songs that are covered and re-imagined on here are really cool and (like every other compilation we put out) includes a wide variety of genres. Artwork by Later Operator.
1970s U.K. CompilationAlmost a year ago, I had the idea to do a compilation of songs from 1970s U.K. artists and I now that I have a grip of songs from friends and it is now looking more like a reality, I am finally putting some energy into this project. So far we have covers of the following artists: The Specials, T-Rex, David Bowie, Crass and Roxy Music. But there are so many other amazing artists to pay tribute to from this period of time and I want to hear them.
If you are interested in contributing something to this compilation, send your submissions or questions to [email protected] The deadline is going to be June 23rd-ish and it will be released digitally for free on our bandcamp. More info can be found on this Facebook Event Page NEW FREE DIGITAL COMP!

On August 7th Ryan Avery is contacted (via Myspace) by two film makers from Utah that want to make a short documentary about him. On August 10th those film makers show up at Ryan's house in downtown Phoenix and spend the next 2 weeks filming a feature length documentary and conducting interviews with Ryan's friends, family, peers and critics click here to read more and download it. "This is a group of Bay Area weirdo rockers that sound like a friendly version of the BUTTHOLE SERFERS or if MR. BUNGLE wanted to perform for children. The mood of this album drifts back and both between chill stoner vibes and the terrifying experience of realizing you drank too much MD 20/20 and are in for a rough night of flailing and throwing up. The most exciting thing about this album is that I don't believe I've heard much that sounds like it, so it's a nice treat to experience something completely unique." - Maximum Rock N' Roll
"There's been a wave of modern psychedelic music the past few years, and we've been all for it. If you love psychedelia but hate the hippie vibes it usually entails, the new album from Oakland's Turqouiz Noiz is worth your time." - If It's Too Loud " If you dig Garage/Punk with more than just a tinge of warped psychedelia then you may want to give this a listen." - Thee Psychedelicatessen

Related Records is officially over two years old now! Our first digital compilation of the new year is called "Unlimited Semiosis"
"This compilation is inspired by many things primarily Jean Molino's theory that all music is the result of Semiosis and by Splinter Cakes 2008 Masterpiece "Snapped" which you can listen to here The concept of this album is simple steal another artists instrumental track and add lyrics/words to it. It can be any genre or from any period of time. You can add to the instrumental if you want but stealing the audio from another instrumental recording is the key ingredient to this project. The deadline to send in your finished track is November 17th. Please send all of your songs in a .wav format to [email protected] Have fun and please share this with other artists/musicians who you think would enjoy it." To stay updated with the progress of this project join to the Facebook event page.
The next digital compilation is called "Everybody's Looking At Their Phone"; we want this compilation to be more than just a digital comp, and we are trying to raise some money to release limited edition post cards and t-shirts with original artwork by David Bessent.
