MORE RR RELEASES ON STREAMING!One of my goals this year has been to get (almost) everything from related records on streaming platforms (besides bandcamp) the reason I have been so stubborn about this in the past is because streaming platforms (like Spotify, Apple, Youtube, TIDAL...etc) do not pay out artists very well (or at all in some cases) and the whole "streaming" process has kind of killed the album format and changed the way people discover new music in a way that I don't particularly like. BUT what has changed my attitude about this recently is realizing streaming IS the main way people find new music and even if a small percentage of those people go out and support the new artists in other ways (like seeing them live, following them on social media, buying their physical releases...etc) that is worth it to me. So here is some of the new stuff that has made its way onto streaming platforms from Related Records recently. NEW ITEMS ADDED TO THE GARAGE SALE! Katie Lebel + Abelrado Gil + their dog Roy Furbasin at the last "weird yard sale" I did earlier this year. I have been putting off listing these recent items for so long! Because it is so time consuming and kinda dumb! BUT here are a bunch of DVD's and VHS tapes I have added recently to the garage sale section of the website. I also put everything left over from previous garage sale "drops" at 50% off so most stuff is between $0.50 - $3. Just go check it out for yourself.
TABOR MOUNTAIN NEWS! First thing! - TABOR MOUNTAIN's new album "Twilight Apologies" is coming out on Dark Purple Vinyl in March! There is a pre-order set up on the website and on bandcamp. It sounds great and I can't wait for others to have this. Second thing! - Tabor Mountain is going on tour in March with Hot Leather from Los Angeles, CA. I don't have all the info for these shows yet BUT if you follow Tabor Mountain on instagram I am sure you will see the info there when it comes.
 Third Tabor Mountain thing! - I put up one of the 5 test presses for the new LP up on the website for sale. I have a copy, Patrick has 3 that he has given to people who helped on the record and this last copy could go to you. You can buy it here. NEW MIA LOUCKS LP MIA LOUCKS has a new LP out on my friend's (and next door neighbor's) label Gilgongo (who also put out her first album "Sister Honey Demos" on vinyl after hearing the cassette Related Records put out in 2015. I think this is the best stuff she's done so far and am so incredibly happy it's out now. It is limited to only 200 copies which is why it is quite a bit more than the first 12" Gilgongo released. But both are now available on the Related Records website and the Gilgongo Records online store. In May of 2023 Related Records is going to be celebrating 10 years of being a record label! WOW! I know! incredible right?! I almost didn't make it! But this year I got a bunch of stuff planned and hopefully, all of these things happen! Anyway, here's this years tentative release schedule..
WHAT ELSE???Well at some point in the year there will be a Volume 2 of the Recherche compilation that will include unreleased tracks from Related Records (and Related Records adjacent) artists on CD, And a limited edition Lathe 7" for Fatty Cakes & The Puff Pastries featuring 2 brand new songs by them.And sometime in the fall I will be releasing a song-for-song tribute compilation to The House Martins "London 0 Hull 4" Record. If you would like to contribute something to that, let me know what song you would like to do, so I can make sure its not already claimed. Plus I plan on releasing a cassette tape featuring all the A-Sides and B-Sides from all of the Belle Stars singles. A new Zine from The Terri's!, at least 1 more season of The Best Friends Podcast, and 1-2 more issues of Testimony! AAANNNDDDD!!!! I should probably get back to releasing more cool/forgotten media on Heirloom Records THAT'S NOT ALL!!I listed a bunch of Test Presses for you obsessive vinyl collecting weirdos. I'm gonna speak candidly for a bit in this newsletter (ha! as if I am ever not writing every newsletter like a personal letter to a friend or some shit... ANYWAY!) I hate holidays... all of them, even my birthday most years. BUT some people who are close stressed to me recently that I should take holidays more seriously and as a "business" I could/should use this holiday season to try and boost sales or something. So this newsletter is going to be all about my Related Records holiday gift suggestions. Did you know that there is a "Send as a Gift" feature on bandcamp? Well there is, and it's great! i've used it a handful of times to send friends a single or an album that I think they would like and tomorrow (12/03/2021) is the last Bandcamp Friday of the year and possibly ever. on Bandcamp Friday, bandcamp waves all of their fees and gives 100% of the money to the artists. It rules, and it has really helped a lot of artists get through the last 2 years because so many governments all over the world have done such a shit job of taking care of their citizens during the pandemic (Which is still a thing by the way, what the fuck?!) Anyway, I pay out the artists on Related Records twice a year for digital sales and the next time I pay everyone is coming up later this month, so if you already own something digitally, this is a great way to support your favorite artists and get them some money this month. Today is Bandcamp Day!On March 20, 2020, Bandcamp waived their revenue share in order to help artists and labels impacted by the pandemic. The Bandcamp community showed up in a massive way, spending $4.3 million on music and merch—15x the amount of a normal Friday— helping artists cover rents, mortgages, groceries, medications, and so much more. It was truly inspiring. But the pandemic and its impact on the music community aren’t over, so today, as well as on June 5, and July 3 (the first Friday of each month), Bandcamp is waiving their revenue share for all sales on the platform, from midnight to midnight PDT on each day.
