THE TERRIS "Very Terri Issue #1" ZINE+MIX CD
"When I was young, I was always envious of movies or books that focused around a group of friends (mostly because that’s what I wanted). Reading this zine felt like that, like peeking into a diary of a secret club, getting to experience that friendship from the outside. The Terri’s are four individuals who not only created a ska band, but created a fun zine with each member contributing pieces about feeling comfortable in your own skin, ska music, and its importance in their life, being cancelled, and topics relating to gender. It’s filled with drawings and what look like letters you’d pass back in forth in school, and ends with a mix CD of songs The Terri’s love. I have to ask, can I join your club?"-Razorcake
The Terris are a Queer+Intersectional Ska band based out of AZ that has been around for almost 2 years. They had big plans to record an album this past summer but because of the pandemic, had to cancel those plans, so they decided to make a zine and mix CD instead.
The zine consists of 17 pages of personal stories from the band members about being queer, starting and building friendships as an adult and about being into ska music. It also includes a "Very Terri" sticker that you can pull right off the front, a download code for one of their favorite bands, trading cards and of course the 24 track mix CD.
The songs for the Mix CD were chosen by the band and the prompt for it was songs that inspire us and our song writing. Most of it is just super fun, dancey and sing alongable music covering a pretty broad range of genres.
